A Website Winner: This Design Firm Does it Right
![]()
It’s taken a while, but I’ve finally found another design industry website that works.
The site belongs to Hospitality & Leisure Asia, a hotel and resort industry design firm whose name I came across while researching companies that work in Dubai and elsewhere in the Middle East.
Their website, www.HLAKL.com, is a model that other larger design firms should follow.
It’s concise, easy to navigate and user-friendly.
The site offers a succinct overview of the staff, the information presented in the “client list” and “portfolio” is nicely categorized, and this site has more specifics, and fewer meaningless generalities (and words) than most.
No, HLAKL.com isn’t perfect. It has too many flash effects at the beginning, a possible “put off” for visitors who are in a hurry.
And the site is out of date; it’s “introducing” tab promotes offices in Muscat, Oman “opening in January, 2006.”
That said, there’s alot to like about the format of this site. I recommend it as a case study for design companies who are looking to revise their website — or possibly create a new one.

I think the site is clean and to the point. They show what they do, and they do that well. Take a look at http://www.igloodesign.ca. Small firm, showing representing well. Think you’ll like the site.
