Mobile Homes to You, but “Metal Mansions” to Them
Designers and real estate stagers in one town here in Colorado may find treasure in a trailer park.
The city is Aspen, the home of a trailer park unlike you’ve ever seen.
“Smuggler Park is the latest Aspen address whose residents are seeing their home prices go through the roof — often an aluminum one,” writes Sari Padoor in The Denver Post. “Some trailer homes here are selling for between $500,000 and $1 million, and several are priced well beyond that.”
One of the trailer homes on the market features “a killer kitchen, funky furnishings and million-dollar views of Ajax Mountain.”
Smuggler Park, which is adjacent to new multimillion-dollar, single family homes, is within walking distance of downtown Aspen.
The trailer park features 88 lots ranging from 2000 to 3500 square feet. On the premises: mobile homes that have been pulled and parked there over the past 30 years and even a few brick and mortar homes.
“When you tell people you live in a trailer park, they think that’s a little weird and they might misunderstand,” Beyron Lindenau is quoted as saying. But she fully expects to sell her mobile home for $1.3 million or so.
